Following a shipwreck on a strange shore, Viola fears her brother dead and is forced to build a new life on her own. Masquerading as a man in order to procure a job with Duke Orsino, she finds herself in the midst of a topsy-turvy love triangle.

The lighting design focuses on the contrast of the two main scenes: Orsino’s beach and Olivia’s garden. Orsino’s beach, experienced primarily in the evening hours, is created through the use of saturated colors, such as midnight blue, fire orange, and moonlight white. Olivia’s garden, experienced primarily in the daylight hours, is created through the use of key lighting angles, warm color tones, and foliage patterns. In addition to the beach and garden locations, there is an third alley like space. Lighting transforms the space into the alley by physically cutting through the previously defined places with shape and intensity.
